Profile of the Programme Pharmacy Studies:

Aims
The overall aim of the program is to prepare students scientifically and professionally to become fully proficient in the science of pharmacy.
Objectives
The role of pharmacists is very important for health as they are the experts in the field of medicines. The curriculum is fully in line with the modern European standards and requirements and it is structured in the way to provide to the graduate the contemporary academic background, the scientific knowledge and all skills needed to become a successful pharmacist.
The course aims to provide the all pharmaceutical knowledge, the chemistry, the technology of drugs and everything that is related to the activity and safety, in order the graduates to be able to apply their knowledge to therapeutics in the benefit of patients.

Career Prospects:

Potential employment opportunities include a community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, cosmetics industry, regulatory affairs.

Upon completion of the program students will be able to:

1. Become specialists in the field of pharmacy and drugs and to be able to offer their expertise to patients and other health care professionals and advise them on the proper and effective use of medicines
2. Have a complete and modern knowledge in the field of pharmacy through a comprehensive academic and practical background in pharmacy and to be able to adapt to the rapid scientific and technological developments
3. Be able to dispense medicines in a safe way
4. Know and apply the laws and codes of ethics of pharmacy
5. Be ready to attend the exams for the professional licensure (E.U citizens)
6. Develop personal skills related to the profession of pharmacy
7. Evaluate the drug industry and market.
8. Practice in a modern pharmaceutical environment
9. Be good health care professionals and be able to combine the theory with practical experience in order to reinforce the social role of the pharmacist, and be able to intervene in therapeutics
10. Have a theoretical basis for further studies and / or research

Access to Further Studies:

Graduates will be able to continue for postgraduate studies in the field of their choice. At present the University of Nicosia does not offer graduate programs in pharmacy.
